Bites and Stings
• Describe the characteristics of common venomous snakes and factors that affect the severity of a snake bite
• Describe the characteristics of common venomous spiders and factors that affect the severity of a spider bite
• Recognize the signs, symptoms and patient history associated with bites or stings
• Discuss the assessment-based approach to bites and stings
• Discuss and identify venomous snakes local to MA
• Discuss and identify venomous spiders local to MA
• Discuss poisonous marine life local to MA
• Discuss diseases of concern carried by mosquitos
• Discuss classification of ticks and the diseases of concern they carry
