Advanced Emergency Medical Technician: AEMT

Our Advanced Emergency Medical Technician program (AEMT) is NOW an 8 week course. In the State of Rhode Island, the NREMT AEMT curriculum is used as the core for the State specific Rhode Island Cardiac training. This robust blended learning program provides the students with a deeper understanding of the medical and trauma management of patients in the pre-hospital setting. Use our Learning Management System to gain valuable knowledge to become an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician.

National EMS Institute’s AEMT Program will prepare students to provide emergency medical care to victims of accidents and sudden illness. Students advance their skills in symptom recognition, emergency care procedures and techniques considered to be within the responsibilities of an AEMT. Once completed, students will be able to obtain IV access in certain patients for fluid management and medication administration. All students must pass both the National written and practical skills exams in order to be certified at the AEMT level.

Our smaller class size allows you maximum practice time with our experienced instructors. This program exceeds the US DOT/DPH/OEMS guidelines. The instructional staff consists of experienced Paramedics and EMT-C’s with years of experience as EMS educators.

Course Materials: Textbook- Advanced Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured (Orange Book) 3rd Edition, Garcia Arrhythmia Recognition
and Garcia 12-Lead ECG, 2nd Edition. The uniform and supplies are NOT included in the course fee. To purchase a uniform visit the “student uniform” tab on the right. Student Polo, EMT pants, & the student tools kit are required for the course.
