National EMS Institute is now offering a wide variety of Allied Health courses. Allied Health is considered any axillary area in patient care that is not Physician or Nursing delivered. These can be X-ray Technicians, Pharmacy or Physical Therapy. Here at National EMS Institute, we offer classes in the Allied Professions of Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), EKG Technician and Medical Assistant.
EKG Technicians work in both Hospital and Private medical facilities. These members of the Allied Health community are trained in obtaining 12-lead Electro-Kardio-Grams (EKG’s) which are then interpreted by Cardiologists and other medical personnel. Our course takes the students through A&P of the heart, the electrical systems and obtaining clear and correct tracings. They also cover the proper techniques for administering stress testing and halter monitoring. This course is approximately 64 hours of instruction in both classroom and lab situations. At the conclusion of the course the students will be eligible to take their National Certification Exam.
The EKG Technician course will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm-9pm at our E. Providence Campus. The book is EKG Plain & Simple 4th Edition. Students are also required to wear National EMS Institute scrubs for this program.
